Chances are that my ideas, feelings, and insights are not going to download in a logical order and automatically arrange themselves into a novella.
So my only hope at becoming a producer of good writing – and a possibility that is completely within my abilities to realize – is the fact that I can scribe, stack, re-stack, and mold my relentless flow of thoughts into a coherent piece.
While I hold diary-ing in high regard, it is not a form of deliberate practice in writing; it is more a release or catharsis of feelings than a purposeful directing of words; if I write anything brilliant while diary-ing, it's more a by-product of luck, probability, or chance than skill.
Writing calls for the vigilance and agility of a ninja and the finesse of a sensei.
