It's amazing how programmable our bodies are. That's why I'm an advocate for discipline.
Discipline means sitting upright in a chair at a desk to read and write when there's an enticingly comfy couch to recline in close by.
It means I don't sacrifice structural integrity (my posture) for a little extra comfort. This is as true in relation to couches versus chairs as it is in relation to my time, my space, my productivity, and my overall health.
Discipline eliminates habits that bring me feelings of resistance or resentment towards the demands of life.
And for the anxious, discipline can be a hideaway, something productive and worthy of my attention in my otherwise unproductive and miserable thought-life. (I am speaking from personal experience.)
I advocate discipline most of all because I deserve the satisfaction of seeing things through.
