I used to tell myself: "This is the last time you'll ever have an anxious episode; it must be," because you can do anything if you pump enough effort into it, which means if you don't get better, you haven't really tried, which then means you're not worthy of getting better any way.
But that wasn't – isn't – reality.
Anxiety is a recurring part of my life, and despite my best efforts at prevention, self-care, and management, it has always come back, up to this point.
Letting go of the idea that I had to be perfectly capable in every area of my life – and that being perfect meant having the ability to resolve all my problems – is one of the best things I've ever done for my peace of mind.
